Programming and activities are not limited to what is shown below. Each course will be tailored to best suit the individual needs of the client or population.

Therapeutic goals:
Sensory plant meditations
  • Cognitive/Intellectual: Learn relaxation skills and identify plants through fragrance, taste and appearance.

Experience a guided mindful meditation with a variety of plants that will invigorate the senses through sight, smell, touch and even taste!

  • Physical: calming of body and mind through meditation and interacting with plants.

  • Psychological/Emotional: Practice new stress management techniques that reset the nervous system.

  • Sensory: Practice sensory integration reacting appropriately to olfactory, auditory (music & verbal prompts) & other stimuli.

  • Social: Engage in a group discussion after the meditation encouraging openness and compassionate interaction.

Succulent transplanting

A hands-on interactive group where we transplant succulents ( or other plant species) from trays into larger containers. Every participant keeps the plant they transplant!

Seed germination

Begin the foundation of new life through seed germination! Species depends on request or limitations of client.

Therapeutic goals:
  • Cognitive/Intellectual: Discover the amazing elements of a given species and how they survive; use plant development as metaphors for human growth & development.

  • Physical: Practice attending to task at hand.

  • Psychological/Emotional: Discuss plant & life’s unpredictability, moments of awe & resiliency

  • Social: Discuss varying responses & preferences to plants within group

  • Sensory: Handling the plant and soil activates senses.

Therapeutic goals:
  • Cognitive/Intellectual: Follow instructions; improve communication skills, and learn about seed growth.

  • Physical: Strengthen fine motor & hand skills manipulating soil & small tools

  • Psychological/Emotional: Encourage awe & wonder, allowing the activity to be soothing and insightful, decreasing stress.

  • Sensory: Engage multiple senses - touch, taste sight, smell

  • Social: Connect & communicate with others; share information, memories & tools in prosocial manner.

Scented satchets

Using a combination of herbs, flower blossoms and herbal extracts we will create our own personal fragrance satchet's!

Therapeutic goals:
  • Psychological/Emotional: Develop relaxation and self care strategies; reduce symptoms of stress and anxiety

  • Sensory: Engage olfactory and tactile senses with herbal materials; enhance mood through sensory stimulation

  • Social: Create sense of belonging with peers in group through sharing stories and insight and comparing with each others satchets.
